The MWIHC "CIT" Program!

Do you have a teenager (13+) who is interested
in
helping run this year's camp as a " Counselor in
Training
"? CIT's will learn how to run events at camp
and work with the younger kids in building the camp
experience for all. Our teens can be the future of the
camp program - now is the time to get them involved
on a greater level!

Look for the CIT sign-up form in the on-line
registration form or e-mail
midwestichild@comcast.net
to get your teen involved.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. What is it?

A. An annual camp held each Summer for families that have adopted from India and other countries who have an interest in exposing their kids to Indian culture and meeting and socializing with other families that have adopted (or are in the adoption process).

Q. Where is it?

A. For the last TEN years the camp has been held at the beautiful Green Lake Conference Center in Green Lake, Wisconsin.

Q. Where do all the attendees come from?

A. All over.  States represented include Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Missouri and even Alaska!

Q. We never attended in the past. Will that matter?

A. Absolutely not. While there are many families that come every year and plan their summers around the camp, new families attend and are welcomed openly into the camp community every year.

Q. Will our family have fun?

A. Absolutely! Games, crafts, shopping, swimming, camp olympics, hiking, golf, bonfires, smores,  gummy worms, Indian culture, movies, food and dancing, laughter and so much more! :)

Q. How do we get involved?

A. Check out the newsgroup located at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mwihc/, our Facebook page  and check back to this page for details.

Q. Who runs this event?

A. This is a 100% volunteer, non-profit enterprise run by the parents and children attending the camp.  As we set up the schedule of events, we will forward a signup page for needed volunteer positions. We ask that all adults volunteer and help out as much as they are able.

Q. Can I help organize the 2012 or 2013 Camps?

A. Absolutely!  Nominations for the Steering Committee are always open - please e-mail midwestichild@comcast.net or post on our Facebook page to join up !  We will also be requesting all parents to volunteer for events in the registration materials.  There will also be a meeting on the Sunday morning of camp to discuss next year's camp!

Q. I still have questions - what should I do?

A. Send an e-mail to Terry at midwestichild@comcast.net

2012 Camp Registration:

Below is the form for you to fill out for your family. If you have questions, need to edit your responses after submission or are concerned that your registration submission did not go through, please send an e-mail to Terry at midwestichild@comcast.net.

Before you Register, a Few Notes:

Meals:  All staying in hotel-type lodging at GLCC are required to take their breakfasts and lunches through GLCC. Campers, those staying in cabins or those in off-site lodging may bring their meals to COJ. Check with GLCC for times and costs of meals. GLCC has agreed for us to do dinners on our own.

We will have potluck dinners on Thursday and Friday nights (bring your own meat or other main course and a dish to pass) and a catered Indian Dinner Saturday night (don't forget to bring your best Indian dresses and suits!) Costs for the Indian Dinner will be $14 for each adult (age 13+) and $5 for each child aged 5-12 (toddlers and babies eat free).

Daily Schedule: We are working on the daily schedule and will post a link on the MWIHC.org  home page and Facebook page as we get closer to camp. We will leave some free time for family activities, biking, swimming, meeting and getting to know one another - so remember to bring your "toys!" This is a casual event and the main goal is to allow the kids time to play together and experience all the GLCC grounds have to offer.

Volunteers:  Unlike past years where people signed up for volunteer activities via the on-line log in, this year Mary Tredway will be forwarding via e-mail a sign-up page to all registrants through "SagePoint". There you will be able to "reserve" your preferred volunteer activities at the specific days and times of the camp. Look for this in your e-mail in the weeks leading up to camp (please, we ask that all pitch in to help as much as they can!)

Registration deadlines:  On-line registration is open until June 19, 2012. After that, late fees will apply. Please register as soon as you can in order that we can put together an accurate head count and budget for this year's camp.

Payment: Following submission of your registration, we will e-mail you your invoice with PayPal payment instructions (please give us a week or so to prepare your invoice). Payment can also be made by check. Instructions for how to make check payments will come with your e-mail invoice. Please give us a week or so to get you your invoice.

Cancellations:  Due to the impact cancellations have on our budget and planning, the registration fee must be non-refundable. Other fees will be refunded if your cancellation is received by June 19, 2012. After that, 50% of your fees will be refunded. Please notifyColette Steuck if you need to cancel. Also, if you want to register, but need to defer payment - let us know. We will do everything we can to make sure your family can enjoy this year's camp!

Any other questions?  Feel free to e-mail Colette Steuck at  colette@wadealan.com or send an e-mail tomidwestichild@comcast.net.

Fees:  Here are the fees for this year's camp (no change from last year):

1. Camp Fee- $50 per family ($75 after June 19, 2012).
